Medical Kits Needed

This is a basic list of medical supplies to cover common ailments that may affect trekkers. However, climbing groups, expeditions, and trekkers venturing into isolated areas may require a more comprehensive medical kit to address potential health emergencies.

Medical Instruments:

  • Sphygmomanometer (Blood pressure instrument)
  • Syringes (20 ml and 10 ml)
  • Hot water bottle
  • Pen and writing pad
  • Stethoscope
  • Thermometer
  • Matchbox
  • Splints
  • Scissors
  • Tongue blades
  • Pen light
  • Cervical collar

Bandage and Dressings:

  • Sterile gauge pads (large and small)
  • Band-aids
  • Triangular bandages
  • Elastic bandages (3, 4, and 6 inches)
  • Adhesive tapes
  • Eye pads
  • Cotton roll (large and small)
  • Q-tips
  • Safety pins

Medications:

For Pain:

  • Paracetamol (500 mg tablets and 125 mg in 5 ml syrup)
  • Aspirin (300 mg tablets)

For Allergy:

  • Avil (25 mg tablets)
  • Benadryl Syrup
  • Trexyl (60 mg tablets and 30 mg in 5 ml syrup)

For Infections:

Eye:

  • Neosporin Ophthalmic Cream

Throat and Lung:

  • Amoxicillin (125 mg per 5 ml syrup, 250 mg, and 500 mg tablets)

Abdomen:

  • Metronidazole (200 mg and 400 mg tablets)
  • Tinidazole (500 mg tablets)

Open Wounds:

  • Cloxacillin and Cephalexin (125 mg in 5 ml, 250 mg, and 500 mg tablets)

Urinary Infections:

  • Narfloxacin (200 mg and 400 mg tablets)
